What is the Best Type of Real Estate Investment and Why?

The Single Family Home is the American Dream – And Your Best Choice
So here’s a question I get a lot – something that most investors wonder about at some or other time: what is the best type of real estate to invest in? Clients that work with us at ICG Real Estate and people who attend our real estate expos often have this question for us and the answer is simple, really – for several reasons…

Many types of real estate investments.

There are a lot of options when it comes to real estate investments. There are apartment complexes with different types of units – condos, duplexes, triplexes and so on. You could also buy into land or commercial property as a real estate investment. However, the best option is to buy single family homes. These give you the best returns and they are a more liquid asset compared to other types of real estate. They also offer you the option of that greatest gift of all – the 30-year fixed-rate loan, all of which I explain in greater detail in this under 5-minute podcast.

Single family homes are the best choice.

The thing to remember is this: the single family home personifies the American Dream. Those lovely sloping roofs and the patio with the rocking chair! The yard where they’re going to shoot hoops with their kids and where people are going to have their barbecues! The pretty garden, the climber roses and the picket fences – all that happens in single family homes! People with their 2.2 kids and the dog aren’t looking to live in apartments in crummy neighborhoods. They are looking to live in good communities with good schools and room to grow and spread out!
Apart from the idyllic picture of the American Dream, there are sound financial reasons for investors to opt for the single family home option, which is still affordable in many of the good markets. It is this that will yield the best returns on your investment and which is going to be attractive for people looking for rental accommodation. So, go with the single family home – there is no better way to secure your financial future.
